Suheily is an experienced employment attorney with a passion for encouraging inclusion, fostering mentoring relationships, and having candid conversations on race, class and gender.
As a law student at DePaul University, Suheily was actively involved in organizations aimed at strengthening and increasing the pipeline for lawyers of color. As a practicing attorney, Suheily has taken leadership roles in several legal organizations in addition to DAPP aimed specifically at increasing the meaningful retention and participation of women of color in the legal profession. Suheily also serves on the associate board of CARPLS, an innovative legal aid service which offers low-income residents of Cook County an immediate response to the everyday legal problems they face. Suheily has twice been named a “rising star” under 40 by the Illinois Super Lawyers magazine.
Outside of the legal arena, Suheily is actively involved on the Leadership Council of the College of Media at her undergraduate Alma Mater, the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Additionally, Suheily is an active member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. and volunteers much of her time serving the south side of Chicago community in which she was raised.
As her daytime job, Suheily is Senior Counsel in the Global Labor & Employment Law Department of McDonald’s Corporation in Oak Brook, Illinois where she serves on the legal department’s diversity committee. Prior to joining McDonald’s, Suheily represented management in labor and employment matters in the Chicago office of Ford Harrison LLP.
