Corporate Counsel at KELLER (DMV)
Erin K. Cannon is corporate counsel for a leading geotechnical construction company. She is licensed to practice in DC, GA, IL, and TX and has worked as a civil engineer in the construction industry, an associate attorney in biglaw, a federal law clerk, and general counsel to a cement manufacturer. With Erin’s professional experience, she is all too familiar with the lack of diversity that has plagued the legal profession and STEM industries.
Erin is no stranger to giving back, and her community activities have included: fostering homeless pets; volunteering as a Big Sister, tutor, and mentor to area youth; serving as a resource for current law students; and holding leadership positions on boards and bar associations, including the Black Women’s Lawyers Association of Greater Chicago, Inc. and the Chicago Committee. She was recognized as one of the 40 Under 40 Illinois Attorneys Under Forty to Watch in 2014 by Chicago Lawyer and Law Bulletin Publishing Company, selected as a Diversity Fellow for the American Bar Association-Construction Law Forum, and was named to the inaugural “Hot List” by Lawyers of Color, LLC.
Erin obtained her undergraduate degree from the University of Delaware, her Master’s degree at The University of Texas at Austin, and her law degree, cum laude, at Howard University School of Law. Erin currently practices in the Washington, DC area, where she was born and raised, and has spent a substantial part of her professional career in Dallas, Texas and Chicago, Illinois. She loves to travel and enjoys spending time with family, watching sports, and playing with her boxer, Floyd. It is Erin’s passion for education that has pushed her to continually reach back to women of color seeking to enter the corporate world.
